Lion-tailed Macaque

Lion-tailed macaques live on a diet of primarily fruit, seeds, mushrooms, flowers, young buds and animal prey.  These macaques are quadrupedal and arboreal.  They are active during the day.  Lion-tailed macaques live in groups with one or two males with many females.  These monkeys, like Japanese macaques are good swimmers.  Reconciliation after a fight in initiated by the aggressor.  Like Japanese macaques, these macaques have been seen using tools.  They are the only macaques with a male territorial spacing call.
